Gardening to lose weight fast

Eating healthy to lose weight can seem a bit boring, so a great way to make it fun is by growing your own food to eat. I noticed that as soon as I started growing my own vegetables, I really got into cooking. There are many healthy cookbooks that you can
purchase, and my family and I really loved all of the different meals I started preparing. Since May is an ideal time for you to start growing a garden, planting some tomatoes, peppers, lettuce, and cucumbers is the perfect way to get going. You are going to be able to stay on your diet, and use the foods that you have in your own home. Not only is it going to be easier to eat healthy, but it is going to be very affordable as well.

Gardening also burns calories, so when the weather gets warm, you can go out and till up your garden, water it, and watch it grow while you are losing weight. I noticed that I stopped watching as much television, and I quit snacking as much because I was out in the garden, or doing other things around the yard. Here are some easy plants that you can start out in your house, and then transplant outdoors.

1. Tomatoes: You can buy tomato plants all year round, and you can even get them with tomatoes already on them at your local farmers markets. If you are growing them from the seeds, you are going to want to start them in tiny cups or egg cartons in front of a window, so they get plenty of light.

2. Strawberries: Almost everyone loves to eat strawberries, and you can easily get hanging baskets that are going to give you more than you can eat. Instead of falling off your diet, you can grab a handful of strawberries, chop them into salads and use them for many other meals. There are many health benefits to strawberries and you are going to save calories choosing this healthy treat.

3. Peppers: Green and red bell peppers are easy to grow, and you can use them for every meal of the day. Peppers are great in breakfast omelets, eaten raw, and in many chicken or vegetable entrees. They are going to be planted in the ground, and you are going to want to have a stake for them to climb.

The more foods you grow, the more of them you are going to eat, and the more likely you are going to lose weight. It is always best to eat healthy fresh foods, and if you are growing your own garden you are going to be able to do this every day. If you want to lose weight then you are going to have to really discipline yourself and get on a diet, along with including a healthy cardiovascular routine as well. Head to your local home improvement store or garden center to start growing your own food and losing weight today.
